Let Go of Motivation! Become Self Disciplined!
Self-discipline is hard. It's a daily struggle. It's not easy at all.
Most people live a lackluster life. A life that is unexciting. A life that is not pleasing.
We sit there and wonder why our lives aren't going the way we planned. Why we feel stagnant.
We feel lost. We've lost hope.
We feel this way not because we lack motivation but because we lack self-discipline.
Motivation is awesome. Motivation is great. But it can only take you so far.
What's gonna happen when all the plans you've made come to nothing. What's gonna happen when life hits you unexpectedly. When life says “not today”.
How are you going to respond?
Are you going to sit there and cry? Or are you going to get up and keep moving?
This is where self-discipline is key. Motivation won’t be there all the time. That motivational talk that you've listened to won't be there when you're all alone.
In a dark place. With your own thoughts. With your deepest fears and insecurities.
You'll be there all alone.
But if you remain self-disciplined, you'll overcome life’s toughest obstacle.
Not everyone might agree that he is one of the greatest.
But even if you don’t agree, you can't deny that he has created some of the best comedies of all time(might just be going a bit too far).
Think dumb and dumber, the mask, the Truman Show, and many others.
He is not just a great comedic actor but he is very versatile too. Yet he is so underappreciated. Undervalued.
Even though all of this and all the success he has achieved. His life wasn’t always the way it is today.
That success wasn't there.
Jim Carrey has had to endure some of the toughest obstacles you could possibly imagine.
From learning disabilities to living in a van and being homeless. From dropping out of school to getting a job to support his family.
Things weren't always rosy for Jim Carrey.
But he decided not to give up. He saw the vision he had and kept going.
He remained self-disciplined.
It felt like the world’s on my shoulders. And when that happens it's easy to give up.
It's easy to tell yourself “maybe this is not for me”.
But if you have a vision and you have self-discipline. You can overcome anything.
Sometimes you might find yourself alone. You might be all by yourself.
But if you really want something, you'll do anything to get it no matter the obstacle.
“The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it.”
